Paramount Plus now offers one month of free ad-supported streaming to new customers who use promo code 1923.
Paramount Plus, a late-comer to the streaming wars in the Spring of 2021, already boasts over 40 million active subscribers; it is now so confident you’ll find value in its service that they’ve extended its 7-day free trial to 30 days if you use the promo code 1923.
If you’re not a current subscriber to Paramount Plus, now may be a good time to catch up on your favorite franchises (Top Gun, SouthPark, Transformers, Halo, 1923, etc.).

Promo code 1923 gets you access to all the content Paramount has buried in it’s mountain of content.
Paramount’s rough-ish start in streaming
Paramount Plus has irked many viewers in its early days. For example, South Park’s “special” run was basically the 2022 season of South Park, it just wasn’t called that; so it never aired on Comedy Central. Paramount managed to do this with other popular properties like Transformers and Star Trek as well. And then, there are user experience complaints that MakeUseOf enumerated in 2021.
The streaming wars’ collateral damage has already materialized for studios and viewers. Streamers are starting to make hard decisions (look no further than Zaslav and the DCU), while customers have begun culling services they consider novelties. By the way, that’s why we’re so bullish on Netflix (the only streamer voted to be essential by more than 80% of their customers; everything else may go, but customers keep Netflix).
However, Paramount has found its space in the market and has a mountain of content. The only problem is, as MakeUseOf points out, a lot of content you’d expect to be there needs to be added. While South Park’s 2022 season (in everything but name) is available on Paramount, every other season is on HBO Max until 2025. The promo code 1923, for example, is for a Yellowstone spin-off that isn’t available on Paramount. The content is excellent, but the confusion likely contributes to the mixed response to Paramount Plus.
But rights are complicated, and we have no doubt Paramount is working overtime to resolve this issue in the future. Every season, special, and movie by South Park creators, for example, will be hosted on Paramount once Viacom’s licensing deal with Warner expires. We’d anticipate this to playout the same way for properties like Yellowstone and Star Trek in the near future, as well. Again, Paramount+ was a latecomer to the streaming industry, and contracts are contracts.
We see promo code 1923 as an opportunity to assess the content as an annual cost ($60). At this time, Paramount has a much softer release schedule than Netflix, Prime, or Disney, but it is making strides.
The question is: is there enough content to keep someone who streams 300 hours a month? Time will tell, but we’re excited to get started!
