Disney+ released the first two episodes of the new Star Wars prequel series Obi-Wan Kenobi over Memorial Day Weekend. With those two episodes being a nice primer to pull in fans, there are still four more episodes of the show left to hit the streamer. But some fans may already know how those four episodes play out. The possible details of the episodes and series’ ending have reported online. Spoilers ahead!
Obi-Wan Kenobi, the First Two Episodes
Set roughly 10 years after Revenge of the Sith and produced by Deborah Chow, Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi takes viewers back to Tattooine where Obi-Wan enjoys a humble existence, shunning his Jedi roots and surviving on piece-meal work, all for the sake of anonymity. And achieve anonymity he does, that is until a group of hired mercenaries force him to embrace his role as mentor-protector of the Skywalker family once again.
Despite Obi-Wan’s attempts to unshackle himself from his past (he even advises another lost Jedi whose life is under threat to take a hike), Luke Skywalker’s uncle Owen wants nothing to do with the old Jedi. Owen, clearly concerned about Obi-Wan’s obsession with young Luke, begins to become hostile towards Obi-Wan, believing that the he is only interested in Luke’s abilities.
When a gang of Empire thugs–led by the Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend)–visits Tattooine in search of any surviving Jedi, the townspeople are harassed and mutilated in a pressure campaign, devastation that tests Owen’s loyalty.
However, it seems that for the time being Owen has no interest in revealing Obi-Wan’s identity, even under threat of death from a chaotic and impulsive light saber-wielding Reva Sevander (Moses Ingram), also known as the Third Sister.
At the same time, a young Leia has been kidnapped from her family’s palace on Alderaan and escorted to the planet Daiyu. After Senator Organa recruits Obi-Wan back into the fight to find Leia, it is revealed that Reva is the one who has kidnapped her, all in an effort to lure Obi-Wan into a confrontation to capture him for Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen).

According to information published by BoundingIntoComic, Reva, who has an insatiable thirst for ending the Jedi for good, picks up on Obi-Wan’s scent on Tatooine. She thinks Obi-Wan is there for a reason and has figured out who Luke Skywalker is.
According to MakingStarsWars, subsequent episodes will see Reva doing some detective work before discovering Kenobi’s secret and hunting down Luke Skywalker.
Reva’s motive for capturing Kenobi and potentially hunting down Luke Skywalker are obvious and made evident in the series when it is revealed that she works for Darth Vader, a fact Obi-Wan is unaware of. Leading viewers to wonder…could there be more to this?
In several flashbacks, viewers see Emperor Palpatine instructing his soldiers to execute “Order 66” (from Revenge of the Sith), a directive in which all Jedi were ordered to be eliminated, including the children. In the short scene, viewers see several children escape. It is implied that one of those children grow up to be the Jedi that came to ask Obi Wan for help on Tatooine.
Throughout the series, several characters that interact with Reva and her brothers refer to them as Jedi who are hunting down their own kind, something Reva et. al dismiss but do not deny. While it is never actually said, viewers are almost led to believe that Reva was one of the children who escaped, and could perhaps have an axe to grind with Obi-Wan that goes beyond Vader’s search for him.
The plot points revealed in the report certainly fit with the events of the first two episodes, but of course, as with much information found in the dark recesses of the internet, it’s not certain whether the information is accurate. Only time will tell.
The Future of Obi-Wan Kenobi
While the first episode had some bumps, the series looks promising. Whether or not the the report is accurate, it will be exciting to see what types of characters and backstories Obi-Wan Kenobi will add to the Stars Wars canon.
One new character to be excited about is Haja Estree played by Kumail Nanjiani (Eternals). Haja is a wanna-be Jedi and scoundrel desperate to do something–anything–good in order to achieve his goals of greatness.
On top of new characters, the show includes a lot of world building and a bit of borrowing from previous Star Wars properties as well, but borrowing with inferior CGI. Indeed, the special effects aren’t quite up to snuff, making it hard not to feel like Obi-Wan Kenobi got the short end of the stick in the production budget.
Plot-wise, it isn’t yet clear whether Reva will be a worthy adversary for Obi-Wan. She’s a killer, that’s for sure, but her level of anger might be too intense for her to actually be effective as a villain. And since she’s after Obi-Wan, one of the most powerful Jedi both past and present, and viewers know the ending to his story already, it’s difficult not to foresee how things will likely turn out for Reva.
