This just in: The STW Daily News Update featuring all the news that’s fit to (digitally) print for Tuesday, July 5th, 2022. Deets on Succession season 4!
Next in Line for Succession
HBO has released some details about the upcoming Season 4 of its flagship drama, Succession. Though no release date has been set, fans can rest easy knowing that at least a few things are for certain. Firstly, production is currently underway (which probably means a Spring 2023 release). Secondly, Season 4 will have a ten-episode run, just like the seasons before it, more or less.
In addition to that, HBO has released details on the direction of the the season’s plot, a bit of a primer for what fans can expect after the big shakeups and betrayals of Season 3’s finale. The official logline reads:
“The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.”
Fans can also rest easy knowing that the core family members will be returning to continue to battle it out including Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his children, Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Connor (Alan Ruck).
Also at the center of the intrigue will be returning cast members Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Justine Lupe, Scott Nicholson, Zoë Winters, and Jeannie Berlin.
Creator Jesse Armstrong will continue to serve as showrunner while executive producing with Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod, Tony Roche, Scott Ferguson, Jon Brown, Lucy Prebble, Will Tracy, and Will Ferrell.
The released logline is quite the morsel of vagueness to chew on, but with no release date in sight, at least fans will have plenty of time to sit and have a think on it.
Season 1-3 of Succession are streaming now on HBO Max.
