Is there anything Chris Pratt can’t do? If a recent report is true, it may be a question of “can’t” vs. “won’t.” Was Pratt scared out of Indiana Jones 5 role?

Since his memorable role in Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt has gone on to star in some of the biggest franchises of the last decade. Appearing first in The Lego Movie, Pratt went on to star in Guardians of the Galaxy, Passengers, the Jurassic World series, The Avengers, The Tomorrow War and most recently Thor: Love and Thunder. He’s even set to star in the upcoming untitled Mario film.

The Parks and Rec funny guy has managed to turn his goofball persona into a household name while balancing his obligations to fit the bill of a protagonist.

The fine line between comedian and action hero isn’t easy to walk, but Pratt does it quite well. This multi-faceted talent has led to an abundance of opportunity.

So much so, there were even rumors that he was being considered for the role of Indiana Jones in a future undisclosed Indiana Jones film.

Chris Pratt address Indiana Jones rumors

In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, the raptor whisperer addressed the rumors and the chances that he may consider the role.

“I don’t even know who Steven Spielberg is. Who? Steven who? […] No, aren’t they doing Indiana Jones with Harrison Ford?”

Not a very good liar there, Chris.

“All I know,” says Pratt, “is once I saw a quote from Harrison Ford and I don’t even know if it was really him but it was enough to scare me, that was like, ‘When I die, Indiana Jones dies.” And I’m like, am I gonna get haunted by the ghost of Harrison Ford one day when he dies if I play…?”

While we highly doubt Ford’s Force Ghost is likely to make an appearance in Hollywood, there may be more to Pratt’s apprehension then a comment by the iconic 80 year old actor.

Fan reaction to Pratt’s potential portrayal of Jones was swift.

“I’d rather watch a 100 year old Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones than have Chris Pratt as yet another annoying snarky action hero guy,” one fan wrote.

Another added “I would rather eat my entire family alive and then throw them up and then drink it with a straw than watch Chris Pratt play Indiana Jones.”

Oof.

Of course, most of this is moot at this point, filming has wrapped on the 5th installment and Harrison Ford is set to return. And while we don’t know much about Indy’s adventure, expect to see more details in the coming months as its set to hit theater’s June 30, 2023.
