After Monday’s Canadian premiere of Tulsa King with special guest Sylvester Stallone, Paramount Plus announced that its premium streaming service would begin expanding its content offering in The Great White North.
The streamer has begun to get more aggressive globally, and Canada is an obvious place for the American-owned entertainment company to look for growth.
Packed in Monday’s press release included the announcement that Paramount would indeed be the exclusive home for the hit series Yellowstone as well as Taylor Alan’s Tulsa King and 1923, the next installment of the Dutton family saga, which showrunners say will take Yellowstone viewers into the early 20th century.
Paramount appears ready to press its position in the global streaming market for the long haul.
Regarding the company’s Canada announcement, Marco Nobili, EVP of Paramount Plus added, “Paramount+ is rapidly expanding its presence and content offering globally. We are the only service where you’ll see Sylvester Stallone, SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek, and South Park all in one place, and we are proud to offer Canadian audiences a mountain of entertainment for the entire family.”
On November 13th, subscribers in Canada will now have access to Paramount exclusive series like 1823, Mayor of Kingstown, The Offer, Halo, Seal Team, Evil, as well as stateside films like Beavis and Butthead, Significant Other, and The Come Up.
In January of 2023, Paramount has several new titles on the schedule, including the series Wolf Pack, Fatal Attraction (starring one of our favorite actresses, Lizzy Caplan), and Rabbit Hole, a film shot in Canada.

In 2023, a sequel to Monster High The Movie will even be shot in Vancouver.
Paramount will also be the exclusive service for titles like Mission Impossible, Scream, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Star Trek, The Godfather, Snow Day, and even Top Gun: Maverick by the end of 2022.
In addition, South Park fans can stream all 24 seasons and the first season of Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard.
It will be interesting to see how Paramount’s aggressive new strategy in Canada translates for shareholders, who are already pushing for improved subscription numbers. Stay tuned.
