HBO Hosts a Game of Thrones Reunion in The Last of Us

While many would love to see the whole Westeros gang back together again, Game of Thrones fans will have to make do with a reunion of just two fan faves.

In The Last of Us, an apocalyptic thriller based on the video games of the same name, GoT alums Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey reunite as two survivors of a fungal infection that turned most of the human population into creatures that are zombies in all but name.

The story centers on Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor with a familiarity with violence, and Ellie (Ramsey), the teenage girl he’s tasked with transporting across the ravaged United States. Though the stories of Oberon (Pascal) and little Lyanna (Ramsey) were never connected on GoT, in The Last of Us, the two are thrust together in their journey across zombie land.

No release date yet, but filming wraps soon. Last of Us is expected to hit some time in 2023.

The Renewal Stars Align for Starstruck

HBO Max is in the middle of filling out its 2023 streaming calendar, and some beloved titles didn’t make the cut (Made for Love apparently was not made for a Season 3). Fortunately for fans of Starstruck, HBO sees potential in the story of everywoman Jessie (creator Rose Matafeo) and her relationship with superstar Tom Kapoor. The little Brit romcom that could recently scored a Season 3 renewal, allowing fans the chance to see more of Jessie and Tom’s unlikely connection.

In a press release, Sarah Aubrey, Head of Original Content, HBO Max said: “Rose has created a show that strikes just the right balance of heart and humor. Starstruck is exactly the kind of rom-com that we love at HBO Max, and we are so happy to see Jessie and Tom’s story continue.”

Rian Johnson Pulls Some New Knives Out

The Looper and Star Wars director took to Twitter this week to announce the title of the sequel to his universally popular and critically acclaimed murder mystery Knives Out. The second film featuring Daniel Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc will be titled The Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Not much is known about the plot of this new whodunit other than it will follow Blanc to Greece for a brand new mystery featuring new characters played by Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.

The sequel comes as a part of an astonishing $450 million two-sequel deal Johnson struck with Netflix. The film is slated to premiere this holiday season, but no word if it will be exclusive to Netflix or also hit theaters.
