Streaming news round up: The STW Daily serves up all the news that’s fit to (digitally) print for Wednesday, June 15th, 2022. Bridgerton gets a prequel on Netflix and Hulu’s Only Murders In The Building gets a trailer.
Netflix to Give Bridgerton Prequel the Royal Treatment
As the wildly successful regency drama moves forward with its third season, Shondaland and Netflix are going backwards, back in time a bit further for a prequel that focuses on Queen Charlotte’s younger years. The prequel has been touted as something of an origin story following Queen Charlotte, Violet Bridgerton, and Lady Danbury in their youth.
Though Lady Whisteldown has yet to reveal script details or a filming/release schedule, what is known is that India Amarteifio was cast in the role of young Queen Charlotte. And Arsema Thomas will play young Lady Danbury with Corey Mylchreest as a young King George.
Ruth Gemmel (Violet Bridgerton), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), and Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte) will all reprise their roles from the original Netflix series.
Michelle Fairley, Arsema Thomas, Sam Clemmett, Richard Cunningham, Tunji Kasim, Rob Maloney, Cyril Uri, and Hugh Sachs round out the cast.
Only Trailers in the Building
Hulu has dropped an official trailer for the second season of the fatally popular murder mystery series Only Murders in the Building. Season 1 ended on quite the cliffhanger, and it looks like the action will pick right back up where it left off.
With a new murder in the building (surely this amount of carnage must be affecting property values), the “Two Boomers, One Millennial” trio are desperate to discover Whodunit after finding themselves suspects this time around. Insisting they’re being framed, the trio butt heads with the savvy detective who worked the case in Season 1.
Same address, whole new mystery. Season 2 premieres on Hulu on July 28th.
