What We Do In the Shadows Sees the Light of Day
Who said the dead can’t dance? FX has dropped an official trailer for Season 4 of vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows, and it’s heavy on revelry, to say the least. It’s also heavy on quirky vampire mating rituals, describing the gang as “polyamorous,” which is technically true in so much is that it’s hard to become monogamous with a new partner if they end up dead before the end of the first date.
The new trailer also offers up more in the way of how the writing will treat Baby Colin, seen here toddling around a nightclub along with his undead caretakers. With a season that could be hilariously subtitled “Three Vampires and a Baby,” it’ll be interesting to see what kind of adult the miniature soul-sucker becomes.
Season 4 of What We Do in the Shadows premieres on July 12th on FX with new episodes hitting Hulu the next day.
They/Them Is Truly Horrifying/Terrifying
The new horror thriller They/Them (Say it out loud: “They Slash Them”) sets out to prove that the horror genre can be horrifying in more ways than one. Blumhouse has released a new trailer for this modern take on the traditional camp slasher that is truly terrifying and perhaps even triggering. As the genre would dictate, there is a psycho on the loose slashing up campers, but the trailer also hints at just how insidious “regular” folks with “good intentions” can be, no hockey mask or machete required.
The film stars Kevin Bacon as the leader of Whistler Camp, possibly the world’s least fun summer camp as it’s meant to serve as a conversion camp for LGBTQ youth. Bacon et al promise the young campers a “new sense of freedom” by the end of the week, but things don’t go as anyone planned.
As the counselors attempt to psychologically break down each of the campers, a mysterious killer starts claiming victims. With their lives on the line, the campers realize that they must reclaim their power if they’re going to survive all the many horrors the camp has to offer.
They/Them is written and directed by Academy Award nominee John Logan and produced by Jason Blum. Joining Bacon in the woods is Carrie Preston, Anna Chlumsky, Theo Germaine, Quei Tann, Anna Lore, Monique Kim, Darwin del Fabro, Cooper Koch, and Austin Crute.
They/Them premieres on Hulu on August 5th.
Solar Opposites Ready for Another Trip Around the Sun
The fish-out-of-water adult animated comedy Solar Opposites is back for another visit to earth in the new trailer for Season 3.
Created by Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan, two of the creative forces behind the mega popular Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites follows a family of aliens who are forced to make a crash landing on earth after their utopic home planet, Schlorp, is destroyed by an asteroid.
While the family were hoping to find an uninhabited world to repopulate, they must now learn to live among humans and–like most earthlings this past half decade–are unsure whether they love or hate life on the third rock from the sun.
Solar Opposites Season 3 lands July 13th on Hulu.
