The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6 highlights

The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6

Phyllis and Pam’s relationship

When Jim and Pam announced they were dating in season four, Phyllis didn’t hold her feelings back about the new couple. During a lunch break later in the episode, Phyllis tells Pam she can’t transfer calls to Jim because he’s “who she’s dating at the time,” which Jim addresses in a cut scene, “and…that’s why we didn’t want to tell anyone.”

On the face of it, we assume Phyllis is protective of her job, albeit a little rude. However, The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6 gives us more context; she may just not like Pam.

In episode one of season six of the Superfan episodes, “Gossip,” while Pam and Jim are discussing Eric and Megan’s relationship, Pam dismisses the rumor as gossip, saying “they aren’t dating, they just work together.” Just then, Phyllis chimes in, “yea, because people who work together never start dating,” referring to Pam’s relationships with Jim and Roy.

We’ve always suspected that Phyllis wasn’t a huge fan of Dunder Mifflin’s iconic receptionist, given her comments in season four and attitude toward Pam receiving employee of the month in season six. But now we know it isn’t just that she’s protective of her sales, she likely thinks Pam’s behavior is out of line.

Kevin and Oscar’s bromance

Throughout the series, showrunners have led us to believe Kevin and Oscar were close. Well, they sit close, as Stanley likes to remind Phyllis. However, The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6 hints the series had a bigger gag in store for us in Niagara Part 1 & 2.

In part one of Niagara, Pam’s sister Penny is confused when she meets Oscar and Kevin, mistaking the latter for Gil, Oscar’s former boyfriend. Oscar is offended by the suggestion and chides her for it, “you thought I would date this? I want an apology.”

Kevin, who is surprised by Oscar’s comments, quips sheepishly, “Oscar, I would be honored to date you.” But Oscar can’t get over the fact that Penny would suggest he’d date Kevin. In The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6, the showrunners tug on this thread a bit more.

While Kevin and Oscar enjoy drinks at the bar in Niagara, the two discuss Kevin’s hairpiece and why it wasn’t a good look. “That’s easy for you to say, Oscar, you have that thick chicano hair,” Kevin says, as he reaches over to rub Oscar’s head. And just as Kevin is getting into the uninvited pat-down, Pam’s sister walks by with a look of confirmation; her suspicions about the two may have been correct.

Oscar pushes Kevin’s hand back, “really?” To which Kevin replies, “why can’t we be together?” Oscar asks Kevin not to pet him like a Persian cat and the two hug and makeup. But just as they are wrapping up, Penny walks by again, smiling, there’s more to the relationship than Oscar is letting on.

Finally, when Oscar, Angela, and Kevin sit together at the wedding later in the episode, Angela jokes, “wait, do you two want to sit together?”

Will we get more of this Kevin and Oscar dynamic in season seven?

Other notable events in The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6 Niagara Part 1 & 2

When Pam calls Jim to take Andy to the hospital after his dance-off, Jim tells Pam he can’t because he went drinking with Michael and Dwight. Jim can’t explain why he’s with the two knuckleheads though, telling Pam, “it just happened.” Now we know the trio took a ride to Canada for a drink before Jim’s wedding but returned to the hotel after Dwight refused to give up his sidearm at the border.

In Niagara part one, Andy rents the bridal suite before Jim and Pam can get to it (why?-because he’s Andy). And Michael, who didn’t have a room reserved, is assumed to have slept in the vending machine area after he couldn’t find someone to hook up with. We know that Andy ends up sleeping in Pam’s room after his hospital visit, but the Superfan episodes reveal it’s Michael who gets to sleep in the bridal suite, finding space in the heart-shaped tub.

We also learn that not only did Michael meet Pam’s mom at the wedding, but they also hooked up for the first time at the hotel when Ilene pulls him into her room in the closing moments of Niagara.

Michael wanted to fire Pam, and Ilene gets revenge after her birthday lunch

When Michael tells Jim he’s dating Pam’s mom in “The Lover,” he tries to coerce his co-manager to fire his own wife. Of course, Jim refuses, but, being Big Tuna, then goes further to convince Michael that he knows Pam better and that it should be him to fire her – hailing Michael as the only “genius” that could pull it off. We didn’t get this version of Mr. Scott in the original version of “The Lover.”

Michael’s treatment of Ilene and his behavior on her birthday are some of the lower points in his narrative, but The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6 show us Ilene gets payback on the ride home. While Pam consoles her in the back of the car, Ilene enumerates the great mistakes and regrets of her life, namely, how she keeps hooking up with “loser guys” and the fact that she hasn’t had an orgasm in years. Uncomfortable moments for Michael, to which he replies in a cut scene, “she told me she didn’t like them.”

Stanley’s home

In the fourteenth episode of The Office Superfan Episodes Season 6, “The Banker,” Michael and crew put on a ruse to convince the investment bank’s fact-checker that things are on the up and up at Dunder Mifflin. Pam plays international sales rep, Dwight is Computron, a fake AI application patched through the intercom system in the office, and Andy pretends to seal the deal with the NFL to make Dunder Mifflin their exclusive paper supplier. Everyone is doing their part, but Stanley is missing, replaced with a better-looking and younger man pulled in to sit at his desk. But we never knew how Michael convinced Stanley to play along, given how reluctant Stanley is to do anything Michael asks.

However, in the Superfan episodes, Stanley shares Michael told him to take the day off for all his years of hard work, and a cut scene shows Stanley relaxing on his recliner and threatening Cynthia to go back to his wife if she doesn’t get her dogs off him. Typical Stanley.
