Netflix surprised us last weekend with the announcement of a Valentine’s Day release of In Love All Over Again, a new rom-com series from Spanish creator Carlos Montero. And wow, what a treat. It’s another impossible love story, true, but the Georgina Amorós led series has a heart-shaped candy box full of unique twists and characters that make In Love All Over Again a fun watch for everyone (him too).
Like last week’s At Midnight, our protagonist is in the entertainment business and engaged in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Julio, who has accepted that he’s not her first priority (Ilene has her eyes on a career behind the camera).
We get our first glimpse of Ilene in 2003 as a young film student in Madrid in the process of producing a short film. When she meets Julio, an aspiring actor with limited talent, the two instantly fall in love. Ilene ultimately picks Julio to star in her short film, but while their love is unquestionable, they fuss as much as they find time to show affection. Julio feels inadequate, and Ilene, clearly in the driver’s seat, makes Julio endlessly uneasy.
The two are inseparable though, until a disaster upends Ilene’s life and puts her on a turbulent path to love ever after.
We won’t spoil the series, but we believe our projected audience score of 76 will hold up on this one. One part Sex In The City and one part At Midnight, In Love All Over Again follows a rich cast over a period spanning years as Ilene and her partner split and reunite over and over again.
And is it just us, or does Carlos González’s voice-over sound like Jonah Hill? He certainly acts like him.
The series also stars Franco Masini as Julio, Ilene’s partner, well-known as Luka Colucci in the Rebelde series, and Albert Salazar and Kyle Scudder.

The cast of In Love All Over Again
It’s always a pleasure to watch Spanish performers break into mainstream media. Both Franco and Amorós are veterans and it shows – though the rest of the cast is terrific as well. You may remember Georgina from the renowned Netflix series Elite; a Spanish crime-thriller that sees three students struggle in a new school, where the clash between them and the wealthy students leads to murder.
Albert Salazar, Kyle Scudder, Roser Vilajosana, Carlos González, and Alejandro Jato are among the other cast members that join Georgina and Franco.
Stream or skip In Love All Over Again
Netflix’s newest original series is another color of romantic comedy. A foreign language series is rarely this well done (Dark comes to mind), and the fact that Netflix invested in the English dub in a significant way shines through. The English track is done so well you’ll forget you’re watching a Spanish series at times, which gives you more time to enjoy the incredible performances from the cast.
Will the series wrap with the couple happily ever after? Or does fate have other ideas? We can’t wait to wrap up the series to find out!
